Description

Background

GH is a member of the somatotropin/prolactin family of hormones which play an important role in growth control. The gene, along with four other related genes, is located at the growth hormone locus on chromosome 17 where they are interspersed in the same transcriptional orientation; an arrangement which is thought to have evolved by a series of gene duplications. The five genes share a remarkably high degree of sequence identity. Alternative splicing generates additional isoforms of each of the five growth hormones, leading to further diversity and potential for specialization. This particular family member is expressed in the pituitary but not in placental tissue as is the case for the other four genes in the growth hormone locus.

BP000202-CYT-091: Recombinant Human Growth Hormone, HEK

Source: HEK-derived.
Predicted molecular mass: 22 kDa.
The activity was determined by the dose dependent stimulation of the proliferation of rat lymphoma line Nb2-11 cells (prolactin indicator cell line) and is typically 0.4-2 ng/ml.
Purity > 95%, by reducing SDS-PAGE.
Formulation: The GH was lyophilized from 1 ug/ml in 1xPBS.
Reconstitution: It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized GH in sterile water not less than 100 ug/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.

Shipping: The product is shipped at ambient temperature. Upon receipt, store it immediately at the temperature recommended below.
Stability & Storage: Use a manual defrost freezer and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
12 months from date of receipt, -20 to -70°C as supplied.
1 month, 2 to 8°C under sterile conditions after reconstitution.
3 months, -20 to -70°C under sterile conditions after reconstitution.
